A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE INSTALLATION
OF ALL WAY STOP SIGNS ON MAIN STREET AT PACIFIC STREET
THE CITY COUNCIL
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Street is under the exclusive
jurisdiction of the City of Morro Bay; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined to be in the best interest of public health, safety, and
welfare to install additional stop signs at this intersection; and
WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 21354 provides for said installations
through the designation of a stop intersection and installation of stop signs at one or more
entrances under its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, Morro Bay Municipal Code Section 10.08.020 states the city traffic engineer
shall determine the installation of traffic -control devices, signs and signals based on engineering
and traffic investigations of traffic conditions; and
WHEREAS, the city traffic engineer did perform such investigation at the intersection of
Main Street and Pacific Street; and
WHEREAS, Morro Bay Municipal Code Section 10.08.080 states, the City Council shall
also have the power to place and maintain or cause to be placed or maintained official traffic -
control devices when and as required as it deems necessary to regulate traffic under this chapter
or under the state law, or to guide or warn traffic; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is appropriate to assign right-of-way
at the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Street based on a petition of concerned citizens and
other functional concerns.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of City of Morro Bay,
California, as follows:
1. That the intersection of Main Street and Pacific Street is hereby designated as a 4-way
(all way) stop intersection hereto.
2. The Department of Public Works be authorized and directed to install appropriate
delineation and signs on Main Street to reflect these added restrictions and limitations.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay, at a regular
meeting thereof held the 9th day of June, 2015, by the following vote:
