RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA
ACCEPTING THE ABC-OTS GRANT AWARDED TO THE
MORRO BAY POLICE DEPARTMENT
THE CITY COUNCIL
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) provides service and public safety
to the people of the State through licensing, education, and enforcement. ABC partners with municipal law
enforcement agencies to provide training, education, and enforcement services; and
WHEREAS, the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) takes a leadership role in efforts to make
California roadways safe for all users; and
WHEREAS, through thoughtful, forward -thinking, and data -driven selection of grants to local and
state agencies, OTS provides an effective means of eliminating fatalities, injuries, and economic losses
resulting from crashes; and
WHEREAS, ABC has the responsibility and authority to review and evaluate each project to assist
the grantee in understanding and complying with the required procedures and gaining the maximum
benefits from the funds expended; and
WHEREAS, a competitive grant in the amount of $24,500 was awarded to the City of Morro Bay to
work in partnership with the ABC to develop an effective, comprehensive, and strategic approach to
eliminate the crime and public nuisance problems associated with problem alcoholic beverage outlets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay, California,
that the City Council authorizes the Chief of Police to sign and enter into a Memorandum of Agreement
with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for the reimbursement of overtime and equipment
expenditures incurred while working in partnership with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to
develop an effective, comprehensive and strategic approach to eliminate the crime and public nuisance
problems associated with problem alcoholic beverage outlets.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City appropriates the funds in the amount of $24,500. for
The Alcohol Policing Partnership Program; provided however, that if the actual revenue received from the
source specified should be more or less than the amount set forth herein, that the appropriations shall be
adjusted to equal the amount actually received.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay at a regular meeting thereof
held on this 11th day of October 2022 on the following vote:
AYES: Headding, Addis, Barton, Ford, Heller
