A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MORRO BAY TO ENTER
INTO A SEWAGE MANAGEMENT GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA
STATE PARKS, DIVISION OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$17,297.52
THE CITY COUNCIL
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, City of Morro Bay (City) has ownership and control over the Morro Bay
Harbor; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to undertake replacing the current pump -station and
plumbing at Tidelands dock for the purpose of providing service for the recreational boating
population; and
WHEREAS, the initial estimated project cost of replacement will be approximately
$23,063.36, after subtracting 15% of prorated costs attributable to vessels that are
ineligible for such funding, such as non -recreational liveaboard and commercial uses. The
City is also required to provide a 25% minimum match; and
WHEREAS, in 1992, Congress passed the Clean Vessel Act to help reduce
pollution from vessel sewage discharges into U.S. waters. The grant program established
by the Act funds the construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of pump -out
and dump stations for use by recreational boaters. As part of its commitment to provide
clean, safe and enjoyable recreational boating in California, the Division of Boating and
Waterways serves as the grant coordinator for the state. The Clean Vessel Program also
provides boater education programs to promote public awareness about boat sewage and
its proper disposal; and
WHEREAS, City Staff wishes to request and apply for a Sewage Management
grant in the amount of $17,297.52;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro
Bay, California as -follows:
The City is hereby authorized to enter into a Department of Boating and
Waterways Sewage Management grant agreement in the amount of
$17,297.52 for a new pump -out station, plumbing and installation.

2. Harbor Director, or designee, is hereby authorized to act as the City's agent in
regard to all aspects of the grant contract agreement.

meeting thereof held on the 28th day of May 2024 on the following vote:
