HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 64-24 Amending FY 2024-25 Budget (Fire and Police Requests)RESOLUTION NO. 64-24 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT TO THE CITY'S FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 OPERATING AND CAPITAL BUDGET THE CITY COUNCIL City of Morro Bay, California WHEREAS, the City of Morro Bay is required to appropriate and expend public funds to conduct its day-to-day business activities; and WHEREAS, the City Council adopted the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25 Operating and Capital Budget on June 25, 2024, by Resolution No. 47-24; and WHEREAS, the Morro Bay Fire Department's emergency response fleet includes a 2015 Pierce ladder truck used to provide an elevated water stream for difficult -to -access structures; and WHEREAS, the ladder truck has suffered a failure of the mounting plate that connects the waterway and ladder to the truck, rendering the ladder unsafe for operation; and WHEREAS, the cost of the repair exceeds available funds in the Fire Department's adopted FY 2024-25 operating budget; and WHEREAS, the Morro Bay Police Department receives an annual grant from the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund (SLESF) pursuant to California Government Code Section 30061-30065 (Code); and WHEREAS, in accordance with said Code, SLESF funds are to be used exclusively to fund frontline municipal police services and must not supplant other funding for Public Safety Services; and WHEREAS, the City tracks all SLESF revenues and expenditures in a dedicated Special Safety Grants Fund (Fund 282); and WHEREAS, the City's FY 2024-25 Operating & Capital Budget includes a part-time permanent Property Evidence Clerk funded from Fund 282; and WHEREAS, City staff recommend removing this position from Fund 282 to fully comply with the intent of the Code; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to amend said budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay, California, a budget adjustment is authorized to allow for $50,000 in expenditures for the repair of the Fire Department's ladder truck and to reallocate funding for the part-time permanent Property Evidence Clerk position, as outlined in Table 1.
