ESTABLISH QUORUM AND CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Irons established a quorum and called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. with all Members
present.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Mayor Irons opened the public comment period for items on the agenda; seeing none, the public
comment period was closed.

Staff presented the draft budget for FY 2017-18 and responded to Council inquiries.

The public comment period was reopened:
Carole Truesdale, Morro Bay, noted the budgeted cost for outsourced dispatch is $376,000 and
asked for a cost comparison to in-house dispatch. Regarding legal fees, she asked why a portion
of the cost was allocated to Human Resources, but not to other departments.
Bart Beckman, Morro Bay, asked if the CaIPERS contribution is a discretionary item the City could
choose not to fund. He also commented on consultant costs related to the WRF project and
encouraged finding creative ways to fund the project. He supported partnering with Cayucos.
The public comment period was closed.
The Council provided individual feedback and acknowledged one-on-one ortwo-on-one meetings
would be held with staff the week of May 15 to answer remaining questions.
