MINUTES - MORRO BAY CITY COUNCIL
SPECIAL MEETING — JANUARY 14, 2021
TELECONFERENCE — 5:00 P.M.
MEETING DATE: February 9, 2021
City Council conducted this meeting in accordance with Section 3 of California Governor
Newson's Executive Order N-29-20 issued on March 17, 2020 in response to the present State
of Emergency in existence due to the threat of COVID-19. This meeting was held via
teleconference for all participants.

ESTABLISH QUORUM AND CALL TO ORDER

Mayor Headding established a quorum and called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. with all
members present.
PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS ON THE AGENDA
Mayor Headding opened public comment; seeing none, the public comment period was closed.
SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA ITEM:
CONSIDERATION OF AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN A LETTER ON BEHALF
OF CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING THE IMPEACHMENT OF PRESIDENT TRUMP;

City Manager Collins presented the item and responded to Council inquires.
MOTION: Council Member Addis moved the Council authorize the Mayor to send a letter to
Senate and Congressional Representatives, including Representatives -elect, and that
the language be updated to say that Council supports impeachment by the United
States Representatives, urges the United States Senate to conduct a trial, urges the
Senate to convict the President of incitement and insurrection, and urges the Senate to
bar the President from holding office again. The motion was seconded by Council
Member Heller and carried 5-0.
ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 5:16 p.m.
