SPECIAL MEETING – JANUARY 27, 2023
VETERAN’S MEMORIAL HALL – 1:00 P.M.
PRESENT: Carla Wixom Mayor
Laurel Barton Council Member

ABSENT: None

ESTABLISH QUORUM AND CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Wixom established a quorum and called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. with all but
Council Member Landrum present. Council Member Landrum arrived at 1:09 pm.
PUBLIC COMMENT FOR ITEMS ON THE AGENDA
Terry Simons, spoke on the format for the work session and hoped the Council would allow the
public an opportunity to raise questions or provide input during the meeting.
Mayor Wixom closed public comment.
SPECIAL MEETING AGENDA ITEM:
I. CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION TO CONDUCT TEAM BUILDING EXERCISES,
FACILITATED BY JANETTE WILLIAMS, THE CENTRE FOR ORGANIZATION
EFFECTIVENESS
Janette Williams, Centre for Organization Effectiveness, facilitated a work session on team
building training exercises. Council discussion ensued regarding definitions of establishing
City Council values, learning Councilmembers’ Communication Preferences, how to
collaborate and coordinate on community needs and issues as a Council and how to
cooperate as a Council. At the end of the work session, Councilmembers’ made individual
comments to the Council Team.
The Council did not take any formal action on this item.

The meeting adjourned at 4:09 p.m.
