RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY, CALIFORNIA,
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 11-16 AND
READOPTING THE CITY'S SIGNATURE EVENTS POLICY
THE CITY COUNCIL
City of Morro Bay, California
WHEREAS, the community of Morro Bay is an amazing place to live, work and play; and
WHEREAS, Morro Bay has many local events that serve both visitors and residents; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City of Morro Bay to recognize signature events that
focus on activities that benefit and provide additional opportunities of enjoyment to local residents;
and
WHEREAS, signature events are those activities the City has traditionally provided direct
support to without charging permit fees or staff related direct charges, as determined by the City
Council as part of its budgetary decisions; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for those events to be both City managed, as well as
partnered events with local organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MORRO BAY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE:
Section 1. Resolution No. 11-16 is hereby rescinded.
Section 2. The City of Morro Bay's Signature Events, for which no permit fees or direct
charges for staff time are assessed, include:
• Fourth of July at Tidelands Park
• Brian Waterbury Memorial Rock to Pier Fun Run
• Lighted Boat Parade
• Tunes at Tidelands
Section 3. Events that are City -organized and produced and, for which no fees or direct
charges for staff time are assessed, include:
• Senior Health Faire
• Monster Skate Series Skateboard Contest
• Mermaid/Pirate Parade
• Halloween Downtown Trick or Treat
• National Night Out
• Holiday Caroling with the Cops
• Grinch with MBPD
• Breakfast with Santa
• Holiday Tree Lighting
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Morro Bay at a regular meeting
thereof held this 1311 day of February 2024, by the following vote:
